Rescue:Freedom International is excited to announce Edward Sumner as the new Director of Engagement.
As a recognized abolitionist, speaker, storyteller, and influencer, Edward brings nearly 15 years of community building, fundraising, and non-profit leadership experience to the team.
“Slavery is the fastest growing criminal enterprise on the planet, and we can’t fight it alone. Edward has a unique ability to build community and equip individuals to be involved in the fight against exploitation. We are thrilled to have him on our team and believe he will help us to see more women and children set free, here in the United States and around the world” said Del Chittim, COO of Rescue:Freedom.
Edward has played a key role in cultivating significant growth for several leading non-profits in the Seattle area. In his most recent role with a local anti-trafficking service provider, Edward built a reputation as a community-minded abolitionist with a passion to mobilize people towards effective action.
“I consider it a tremendous joy and privilege to be joining an organization that is changing the lives of women and children who have experienced exploitation. This team is bringing a level of global strategy to the abolitionist movement that I believe has real potential the change the way we fight sex trafficking around the world and move the needle in profound ways. Rescue:Freedom is working to create ‘a hope for every victim, a future for every survivor, and a solution for every community,’ and I believe we all have a role to play in making it happen.”
Rescue:Freedom International is currently working with local partners in eight different countries with hundreds of women and children experiencing restoration. As Rescue:Freedom rapidly expands their domestic and international programs and partnerships, Edward will focus on building community and creating transformational ways for individuals, businesses, foundations, and faith communities to join Rescue:Freedom in the global fight against slavery.
